We recently received a wonderful, surprise gift from the United Thank Offering (UTO). We received a letter from the Rev. Canon Heather Melton, Staff Officer at the UTO, that read in part “128 years ago, the United Thank Offering was founded to fund mission initiatives that the church could not otherwise fund. The first offering funded the construction of church in Alaska and sent a woman to be a missionary in Japan. Since the founding of the United Thank Offering, the ministry has committed itself to supporting missionaries in their ministry for and among us. As Archbishop Desmond Tutu said: ‘We are all missionaries or we are nothing.’ This year, the United Thank Offering granted funds to distribute as gifts to overseas mission personnel serving through the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, who have served for six or more months in thanksgiving for your witness.”
We are deeply grateful and honored to receive this gift. We are thankful to the UTO, we are thankful for the mission of the UTO, and we are thankful for everyone who has supported the UTO.
